Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition announced

07/07/2015 09:48:22

Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition will be the next installment of Mojang's smash-hit crafting game, and the beta for it will launch on July 29.

All of the 20 million players who currently have the PC edition of Minecraft will be able to download the Windows 10 Edition for free. The beta is $10 for new buyers. Mojang hasn't yet determined how long that beta will last.

A news release from Mojang said multiplayer in Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition would support Xbox Live and Pocket Edition friend communities. A built-in recorder will allow players to easily share their gameplay highlights. Xbox One controllers are supported, as are other modes of play.

This edition will not replace the existing version of Minecraft. Mojang said it is building a separate one to take advantage of Windows 10 features.
