Heroes of the Storm is the fourth Blizzard project to launch in China
Heroes of the Storm will be the fourth Blizzard project to release in mainland China, the company announced yesterday.
The gaming behemoth is licensing the multiplayer online battle arena game to a NetEase, Inc. affiliate in China for a term of three years. Blizzard previously collaborated with NetEase to bring World of Warcraft, StarCraft 2, Hearthstone and Battle.net to Chinese gamers.
"We are very excited to be presenting another hotly-anticipated Blizzard game to Chinese players," said NetEase CEO William Ding in a prepared statement. "We believe Chinese gamers will enjoy the amazing content and quality of Heroes of the Storm and its focus on team battles. We're working closely with Blizzard to prepare everything needed for launching Heroes of the Storm in China, and we look forward to providing players with the best possible service."
Last month, Blizzard announced that it would be inviting select Battle.net users into the early technical alpha for the game, which was revealed last fall to be the rebranding of in-development MOBA Blizzard All-Stars. Heroes of the Storm will launch for Mac and Windows PC at an undetermined date.
