Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's futuristic take on zombies will arrive in January.

Dubbed Exo Zombies, the new cooperative multiplayer mode outfits the undead with Advanced Warfare's exoskeletons to make the shambling hordes deadlier than ever.

"As things were wrapping up around launch, we started playing around with the idea of what happens when zombies were thrown into the mix with exoskeleton gameplay," Sledgehammer says. "What we came up with is Exo Zombies — an entirely new breed of zombies and an entirely new co-op experience that is truly unique to Advanced Warfare."

The first chapter of Exo Zombies, Activision says, will hit alongside the game's first downloadable add-on pack, named Havoc. The first of four content packs, Havoc is slated to ship in January, debuting first on Xbox platforms. Add-ons Ascendance, Supremacy and Reckoning will round out Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's season pass.
